Why is CK2 so complicated? ›

It takes a really long time to learn the game because there is no proper tutorial. There's also not enough language support. There's too much DLC. You can't play the game without them.

Crusader Kings 3 is a strategy game where you play as a landowner during the Latin holy wars. It's open-ended, and the goals are driven by the player, but most people play with the intention of creating an empire that's larger than any other on the map through subterfuge, war, diplomacy, or just buying everyone out.

Overall CK2 is definitely still the better game and is still a viable option to play but CK3 has improved and and with the landless and imperial DLCs coming it could improve a lot more.

For the same reason they aren't adding Tibet in the expansion Rajas of India. It is because the government type of China is incompatible with that of Europe, and the game designers see that as something that could not be added to the game at the current time.

EU4 is a very typical grand strategy game that takes place from the Renaissance to the early 1800's. It has way more mechanics than CK3 so will have a much higher learning curve, and a LOT more content and flavor since it has a decade of DLC.

Starting as King Murchad of Mumu in Ireland in 1066 is generally considered the easiest way to learn the basics of conquest, as all of Ireland's other realms are smaller and the nearby kingdoms will leave it alone for a long time.

Game "ends" in 1453 but you can set game options to "no end date" when creating a new game. Then the game will continue forever after 1453, just that history and historic events will "stop" at that point. But you will rarely ever reach that end date anyway.

Yes, there's a Game Rule option you can change when you start a new game (either 1453, or No End Date).

Every point of prowess gives a knight 100 damage and 10 toughness. By comparison, each levy has 10 damage and 10 toughness. To put that into context, having a 20 prowess knight is worth the same damage-wise as 200 soldiers, and has equal toughness to 20 normal levies.

EU4 is a much more difficult game.

It can feel like playing a spreadsheet. CK2 is relatively streamlined: gold, prestige, and troops are the only numbers you really need to worry about, and it's relatively simple to get any or all of them going in the right direction.

Unfortuantely, since Rajas was introduced, there's more characters on the map using up resources for their AI, so you have a slower game when you try to run it at high speed. When CK2 is running You can also try opening up the task manager, finding CK2 in the processes list and right clicking it.

Each character in the game has a childhood up until the age of 16.

If the seduce action is not available in the target's diplomacy screen, you may already be seducing someone else. You can either wait for the previous seduction event to resolve, or you can right-click your own portrait to Stop seducing.
