Why would I get a text with a Facebook code? ›

If you set up two-factor authentication, you'll be asked to enter a special login code or confirm your login attempt each time someone tries accessing Facebook from a browser or mobile device we don't recognize. You can also get alerts when someone tries logging in from a browser or mobile device we don't recognize.

Don't panic. Although receiving the code means that someone is trying to log in to your account and has your password, the extra authentication step has done its job and protected your account from being compromised. Never share an authentication code with anyone!

If you've set up Facebook texts, you can send a text (SMS) to 32665 (FBOOK) to get notifications without using mobile data. Keep in mind that standard messaging rates apply. You can choose what you want to get notified about from your settings.
