Northern Ireland weather: Cloudy, windy and wet (1)

Eimear McGovern

It will be a cloudy day with outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy - especially around the Mourne Mountains on Thursday.

There will be fresh south to southeast winds, which will be strong to gale for a time along the coast and a maximum temperature of 15C.

The heavy rain will turn lighter and more patchy this evening with winds also easing down. It will remain cloudy with showers overnight and a minimum temperature of 11C.

On Friday, it will be a brighter day with some sunshine along with a few showers, with the odd heavy outbreak possible. The maximum temperature will be 17C.

The weekend overall will be unsettled with showers, some heavy with the chance of thunder, but some sunshine around too.

There will probably be fewer showers around by Monday.
